Ukrainian Civil Society News, November 16

One of the most remarkable things that happened within the months of the war was the resilience of Ukrainians and their ability to translate their stress and anger into a meaningful response. Fighting the enemy, supporting those in need, donating money for the sake of Ukraine’s victory – we stand by our country even on the hardest days and find the niche to be useful.
This issue of our newsletter sheds light on the wartime activism and donation preferences of Ukrainians since the beginning of the war, recent civil society developments, and the opportunities to grow your expertise and capacity. Get engaged in our weekly highlights!

The times are troubling these days, but Ukrainians stay strong, support those in need, and work together to face the challenges of today and tomorrow. What specific areas of wartime activism do citizens choose to resist the enemy? Our Civic Engagement Poll revealed that 41% of Ukrainians supported IDPs at shelters or provided free housing, 40% procured various goods for army needs, and 21% joined information resistance. 14% of respondents helped evacuate civilians from endangered areas, and 10% joined military or territorial defense units. Army needs became the primary purpose of all donations that Ukrainians made since the beginning of the war (65%). 56% donated towards humanitarian aid and 48% – to charitable initiatives.
