How to rebuild Ukraine according to the desires of its citizens? Transparency International Ukraine conducted a comprehensive sociological survey to gain insights into the aspirations and expectations of Ukrainian citizens regarding the future reconstruction of Ukraine. The survey results revealed that Ukrainians prioritize citizen and business engagement (94%), development of reconstruction strategy in advance (86%), and transparency and openness of reconstruction – 79% as the main drivers for reconstruction. Additionally, the survey findings underscored that most citizens (73%) consider corruption as the greatest threat to the reconstruction. Furthermore, 63% expressed fears over the lack of control and the embezzlement of public funds, and 55% – the resumption of hostilities. To effectively address these threats, 33% of Ukrainian citizens believe it is necessary to provide control mechanisms and increase criminal liability for corruption (24%).
During the survey presentation, Ayder Khalilov, Senior Program Manager at USAID/ENGAGE, highlighted the evolving dynamics between Ukrainian citizens and civil society organizations in the recovery process: “Since most Ukrainians entrust control over recovery processes to CSOs and trust in CSOs is increasing, but the direct link between citizens’ concerns/priorities/beliefs and CSOs as a channel of advocacy is yet to be strengthened. CSOs can only speak with authority on behalf of citizens’ interests in the recovery process if they’re able to demonstrate their value-add to citizens.”

On June 7, the Center for Innovations Development (CID) took part in the Coalition of Business Communities Forum to present the eDem (vision of the electronic democracy) module developed for the Digital Restoration Ecosystem for Accountable Management (DREAM). The introduction of the module will help to enable active business participation in reconstruction processes, ensure equal opportunities for all interested parties, and enhance competitiveness.

CSOs Urge Global Action to Counter Russia’s Influence in International Organizations
5 AM Coalition calls on the international community to deprive Russia of its influence in the UN Security Council and other global organizations. CSOs also urge the international community to take action against Russia’s top military and political leaders for their involvement in war crimes in Ukraine. The coalition emphasizes that only the complete de-occupation of the Ukrainian territories will end Russia’s massive violations of international humanitarian law, human rights, and barbaric environmental destruction.

VoxUkraine Combats Kremlin-Backed Fakes on the Destruction of the Kakhovka Dam
The fact-checking analysis by VoxUkraine debunks fakes produced by Russia’s propaganda following the destruction of the Kakhovka dam. The CSO detected contradicting statements disseminated by pro-Russia sources, including denying any explosion while also attempting to attribute blame for the destruction of the dam on the Armed Forces of Ukraine and its allies.

On June 8, GoGlobal, as part of the youth initiative #VlipyZaSebe, unveiled a mural titled “Support” in Kyiv, Yaroslavska str 31. The artwork honors the dedicated efforts of volunteers and activists who contribute to our collective victory, emphasizes the importance of unity, and serves as a daily reminder of how small actions can turn into a powerful driving force. The mural is based on a sketch by Canadian artist and illustrator Eric Pause.
