The process of Ukraine’s wartime recovery and reconstruction are among the most pressing challenges for both the state and civil society. In this piece, we will discuss our participation and that of our partners in the International Ukraine Recovery Conference – URC2024. We will also learn about the advocacy efforts of our partners in garnering global support for Ukraine’s recovery. Join us to stay informed about the latest news from the Ukrainian civil society!
Ukrainian civil society is actively contributing to the recovery and reconstruction efforts of the country. However, Ukrainian NGOs face significant challenges and obstacles along the way. According to a survey conducted by Chatham House titled, “Ukraine’s wartime recovery and the role of civil society,” 72% of CSOs agree that the lack of political will at the highest levels is a barrier to their engagement in reconstruction efforts. Other obstacles include the absence of transparent information about the government’s activities in reconstruction (59%) and active fighting and martial law (55%). Among the most pressing challenges, respondents identify the reintegration of veterans, strengthening unity in the country, and ensuring children and youth have access to education.

Програма «Долучайся!» разом із партнерами бере участь у Міжнародній конференції з відновлення України (URC2024)
З 10 по 12 червня разом із партерами ми взяли участь у Міжнародній конференції з відновлення України у Берліні. Основна мета конференції – консолідація міжнародної підтримки для відновлення, відбудови та модернізації України.
10 червня заступниця директора програми «Долучайся!» Ірина Білоус взяла участь у форумі «Усе відновлення є місцевим: Форум напередодні Конференції з відновлення України». На заході обговорять локальні аспекти відновлення та впровадження реформ.
12 червня разом із коаліцією RISE, GMF та Німецько-Українським бюро ми проведемо паралельний захід щодо результатів URC2024. Ірина Білоус разом із партерами буде спікеркою на панельних дискусіях «Відгуки громадянського суспільства на URC», «TED Talk: Протидія дезінформації щодо корупції в Україні» та «Сесія з пошуку додаткового фінансування для України та засобів фінансового контролю». Серед партерів-учасників дискусій також SavED, Transparency International Ukraine, Міжнародний центр української перемоги та Інститут аналітики та адвокації.

International Center for Ukrainian Victory (ICUV) Advocates for Global Support for Ukraine
From June 5 to 6, ICUV participated in the annual Riga StratCom Dialogue 2024 in Latvia, which focused on the future of strategic communications. ICUV representatives promoted Ukraine’s victory and warned against propaganda and misinformation.
On June 8, ICUV demanded the confiscation of Russia’s frozen assets during the #MakeRussiaPay event in France.
From June 10 to 12, ICUV representatives visited Brazil to advocate for Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction.

Center for Civil Liberties Advocates for Increased Support to Ensure Ukraine’s Victory
From June 3 to 9, Oleksandra Matviichuk visited Canada, where she met with local politicians, lawyers, and human rights activists for advocacy purposes. In Ottawa, the leader of the Center for Civil Liberties met with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. They discussed critical issues for Ukraine, such as the deportation of children, Ukrainian civilians held captive in Russia, and the importance of fair punishment for war criminals.

Razumkov Center Explores Perspectives of Peace Summit in Switzerland
On June 6, the Razumkov Center published an analytical report titled “Peace Summit: Geopolitical Context and Strategic Perspective.” The report highlights that the summit marksa crucial first step in a complex political and diplomatic process aimed at ending the war in Ukraine. The authors analyze the prospects and underscore the importance of unity among the democratic world in supporting Ukraine. The report underscores the strategic significance of international solidarity and cooperation in achieving lasting peace.
