Cooperation between authorities and civil society in citizen engagement
This year newly elected Government and Parliament clearly stated that it is ready to communicate directly with citizens and does not need any mediators in such communication. At the same time the question on the role of CSOs in building such dialogue remains open. Will activists agree to serve as active facilitators in such a dialogue and help authorities hear key issues Ukrainians face? Or will they be ready to fight to be an equal participant of such communication? In all cases, the need for review of the role of civil society in Ukraine will be one of the key trends in 2020. As of now, we can talk about the two forms of civil society communication with new Government: organizations and activists that are engaged and are invited to participate, and those who does not have such opportunity. We expect to see soon on whether all participants of the dialogue are ready for the change of their roles.
